Chris Emmanouilides is a Creative Manager, Television Programming Executive and a Series Executive Producer who has overseen the development and production of reality-based series, documentaries, specials and online programming for over twenty years. As Director of Programming at Banyan Productions, Chris was responsible for initial production planning and budgeting, negotiating with network management, hiring show runners and staff, and delivering the creative concepts for projects ranging from $5,000 to over $6 million. He currently is the Director of Digital Media at the American College of Financial Services.
While at Banyan, he helped deliver thousands of episodes for numerous networks including Discovery, TLC, Discovery Health, Travel Channel, HGTV, Food Network, Fine Living, DIY, Lifetime, Nick at Nite, Oxygen, OWN and​ Z Living. Banyan’s series include Trading Spaces, Deliver Me, Cruises We Love, A Wedding Story, Trip of A Lifetime, HiJinks, Trading Spaces: Boys vs. Girls, Perfect Proposal, A Makeover Story, Birth Day and Surviving Motherhood to name just a few. Banyan Productions was honored by Real Screen Magazine as one of the top 100 production companies in the world in 2006 and 2007.
As co-founder and content officer of VuNeex, LLC. - a platform dedicated to mission focused storytelling for businesses - he produced two online series: A Moving Story sponsored by Reader’s Digest, and Charmed For Life sponsored by Hope Paige Designs.
Chris produced and directed On the Map- a social TV series shot in Barcelona and launched through Facebook in 2012. He developed a sixteen episode series for the Travel Channel about cruise ships and produced shows in Asia, Europe, South America, Alaska and the Caribbean. Chris functioned as Director of Special Projects at Banyan and acted as Executive Producer on two, prime-time documentaries for the Discovery Channel. He has overseen production of numerous other one-hour prime-time specials for HGTV, DIY, Discovery Health and the Travel Channel.
Chris served as the Series Executive Producer/Show Runner of forty-two episodes of Travelers, an hour-length international travel series produced for the Discovery Channel. Before being named the Series EP, Chris was a producer-director-cameraman for Travelers where he completed programs in Peru, Chile, Japan and numerous other locations in the United States and around the world. He also developed and acted as Series EP/Show Runner on a sixty-three episode reality series called Reunion for TLC.
Chris is also co-founder of Parallax Pictures, an independent production company focused on media literacy. He co-produced and photographed The Ad and the Ego, an hour-length documentary on the impact of advertising on contemporary culture which aired in Canada and Europe and took first prize in its category at the San Francisco International Film Festival.
Chris acted as Producer and Director of Photography on Talk Fast, a feature-length documentary that follows a group of struggling screenwriters in Hollywood. Talk Fast screened at festivals and was distributed internationally by Solid Entertainment. Talk Fast was licensed by Canal+ for broadcast in Scandinavia and was featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show.
He recently directed, produced, wrote, photographed and edited Archive which premiered at the Los Angeles Greek Film Festival and was awarded the Audience Choice Orpheus Prize. He also produced and directed Dream Big, a documentary on winners of The Barron Prize for Young Heroes for the Boulder based Barron Foundation. His early films including Remains, Suelto! and A Border Crossing were screened at film festivals around the world including Sundance, Slamdance and AFI. He has been a member of the Philadelphia Independent Film and Video Association (PIFVA) for over twenty years and served as its board president in 2003. He has taught production and media courses at Temple University, the University of Toledo, the Scribe Video Center and the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. He currently works as a Digital Media Producer at The American College in Bryn Mawr, PA.
Chris received his BA in Philosophy from Colorado College and his MFA in Radio-Television-Film from Temple University and resides with his wife and daughter in Rutledge, PA.
